Korcan Köstük
ConcertmasterKorcan Kostuk is a Columbia, South Carolina–based violinist and artistic director of Some Strings Attached, a chamber ensemble dedicated to innovative programming and bringing both classical and contemporary music to diverse communities. His work is shaped by a broad interest in diverse musical styles, ranging from established classical repertoire to contemporary and experimental music, fostering a flexible and inquisitive approach to performance.
As a performer, Korcan has extensive experience in both chamber music and orchestral settings. He serves as concertmaster of the Turkish American Orchestra, a New York–based ensemble that celebrates the diversity of Turkish and Western music in an orchestral setting while commissioning new works for each concert. He has also collaborated with a wide range of musicians, artists, and ensembles throughout Türkiye and the United States. His artistic work increasingly explores integrating electronics with acoustic instruments, creating new possibilities for sound, texture, and musical interaction.
In addition to performing, he is active as a composer, creating works that reflect an interest in interdisciplinary and experimental approaches. His work frequently engages with electroacoustic practices, integrating live electronics with acoustic instruments to explore new sonic possibilities through processed sound. Through his performances and creative projects, Korcan seeks to expand the violin’s role in contemporary music while maintaining a strong connection to established traditions.He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Violin Performance at the University of South Carolina with violinist Ari Streisfeld, focusing on bridging traditional repertoire and contemporary practices.
